Report on Oil Sightings throughout Coastal Louisiana

PRESS RELEASE

BATON ROUGE (June 9, 2010) - The below is a situational awareness report of oil impacted areas led by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Louisiana Army National Guard and local governments.

Note: The information in this report has been forwarded to the federal incident command post in Houma, which is composed of U.S. Coast Guard and BP officials. This report consists of newly impacted areas, and does not serve as a comprehensive listing of impacted areas.

Plaquemines:
Sighting: Heavy oil located in Bay Jimmy between boom and marshland.
Date: 9 Jun 10

Sighting: Large mat of oil 60 feet wide located in Lake Washington.
Date: 9 Jun 10

Sighting: Oil close to shore at Chaland Pass.
Date: 9 Jun 10

Sighting: Oil on edges of shore located in Bay Long 1 mile NE of Bayou Cheniere Ronquille.

Sighting: Heavy Oil 3x5 yards wide in Bastian Bay.
Date: 9 Jun 10

Sighting: Oil on Sand Island Beach 2 feet above sea level. Sheen and tar balls extend 2 miles offshore.

Sighting: Black oil 1 mile x 15 feet wide spotted 2 miles S of Bayou La Mere.

Sighting: Tar patties surrounded by rainbow sheen located in Grand Ecaille Oil Field.

Sighting: Tar mat extending from marsh grass to the edge of the water located on the NE edge of Barataria Bay.

Sighting: Tar in the Mangroves located in East Grand Terre Canals.

Sighting: Light oil sheen with foam located in Bayou Blue N of Pointe au Chenes Wildlife Management Area.

Sighting: Light oil sheen with foam located in Unnamed Canal N of Sulphur Mine in Pointe au Chenes Wildlife Management Area.

Sighting: Oil patch along Bayou Barre.
