Report on Oil Sightings throughout Coastal Louisiana
BATON ROUGE (June 16, 2010) - The below is a situational awareness report of oil impacted areas led by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Louisiana Army National Guard and local governments.
Note: The information in this report has been forwarded to the federal incident command post in Houma, which is composed of U.S. Coast Guard and BP officials. This report consists of newly impacted areas, and does not serve as a comprehensive listing of impacted areas.
Oil Sightings Report June 16, 2010
Sighting: Heavy oil 25 meters by 1 nautical mile located near East Big Island Bay.
Sighting: Oil sheen with tar balls located in Bay Batiste.
Sighting: Oil on the beach of the eastern most Grand Terre Island at Bay Chenerie Ronquille.
Sighting: Tar mats located between inner boom and marsh located in Bay Jimmie.
Sighting: Oil in the marsh located in N Bay Jimmie.
Sighting: Oil with tar balls located 1/3 mile E of Cognevich Pass.
Sighting: Oil ribbon 200 yards long located in Cat Bay.
Sighting: Oil 100 feet x 100 feet located in Barataria Bay near Mud Lake.
Sighting: Oil located in Big Island Bay.
Sighting: Heavy oil stream 300 feet by 20 feet located 2.2 miles SW of Lost Bayou.
Sighting: Oil located in Quatre Bayou Pass.
Sighting: Large gray sheen with tar patties located in Bay Batiste.
Sighting: Large rainbow sheen with tar patties and oil in the grass located 2.2 miles W of Lost Bayou.
Sighting: Gray sheen with tar patties and oil in the grass on an island located in NE Bay Batiste.
Sighting: Sheen with tar patties located Bay Sanbois.
Sighting: Oil in the grass 1.2 miles NW of Bayou Dulac.
Sighting: Thick rainbow sheen with tar patties located S of Bay Chene Fleur.
Sighting: Light gray sheen located in Freeport Sulphur Canal.
Sighting: Oil in the grass located in Lake Grand Ecaille.
Sighting: Oil located .61 miles NW of Fort Livingston.
Sighting: Oil located in Barataria Bay 2.57 miles NW of Grand Bank Bayou.
Sighting: Oil located .81 miles SE of Grand Isle.
