PRESS RELEASE Report on Oil Sightings throughout Coastal Louisiana BATON ROUGE (June 29, 2010) - The below is a situational awareness report of oil impacted areas led by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Louisiana Army National Guard and local governments. Note: The information in this report has been forwarded to the federal incident command post in Houma, which is composed of U.S. Coast Guard and BP officials. This report consists of newly impacted areas, and does not serve as a comprehensive listing of impacted areas. Oil Sightings Report June 29, 2010 St. Bernard Parish: Sighting: Oil located 5 miles E of Point Neptune in Chandeleur Sound. Plaquemines Parish: Sighting: Tar patties in sheen located in western Bay Jimmy. Sighting: Oil located 7 miles SE of West Grand Terre Island. Sighting: Oil located between Dennis Pass and Cadro Pass in the Garden Island Bay area. Sighting: Oil located 1.87 miles SE of Pass Abel and West Grand Terre Island. Sighting: Oil located in Lonesome Bayou off of southwest Pass a Loutre. Sighting: Large plume of submerged oil located 11.22 miles N of Grants Pass. Sighting: Sheens with possibly more oil under water located 18 miles NE of northeast pass of Mississppi River. Sighting: Oil located offshore 30 miles E of Brenton Sound. Sighting: Oil located offshore 10 miles SE of the West Jetty of the South Pass of the Mississippi River. Sighting: Oil with rainbow sheens located offshore 16 miles W of Custom House Bayou. Sighting: Oil located offshore 18 miles SW of Custom House Bayou. Sighting: Oil located offshore 23 miles west of Bayou Thunder Von Tranc. Sighting: Pancakes and tarballs located offshore 18 miles SE of Four Bayou Pass. Sighting: Tar balls and oil located offshore 8.5 miles south of Grand Bayou Pass. Sighting: Oil located offshore 10 miles south of Chaland Pass. Jefferson Parish: Sighting: Oil located 1 mile SE of south shore of Grand Isle. Sighting: Tar patties in sheen located 0.5 miles NW of Pass Abel. Sighting: Oil located 3.5 miles E/SE of Caminada Pass. Sighting: Oil slick one to two miles wide located from three miles S of Grand Isle stretching 12 mile long towards Fourchon. Lafourche Parish: Sighting: Oil located 2 miles W of Belle Pass in southeastern Terrebonne Bay. Terrebonne Parish: Sighting: Oil in Little Pass located 2 miles E of Timbalier Island. Sighting: Oil located 2.5 - 3 miles S of Cat Island Pass. Sighting: Oil located in the northern part of Wine Island Pass. Sighting: Oil located 0.5 miles N of Cat Island in Terrebonne Bay.
