PRESS RELEASE Report on Oil Sightings throughout Coastal Louisiana BATON ROUGE (July 6, 2010) - The below is a situational awareness report of oil impacted areas led by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Louisiana Army National Guard and local governments. Note: The information in this report has been forwarded to the federal incident command post in Houma, which is composed of U.S. Coast Guard and BP officials. This report consists of newly impacted areas, and does not serve as a comprehensive listing of impacted areas. Oil Sightings Report July 6, 2010 Cameron Parish: Sighting: Oil reported eight miles south of the Calcasieu Pass Jefferson Parish: Sighting: Oil located three miles of Grand Isle Lafourche Parish: Orleans Parish: Sighting: Tar balls with sheen located 1.5 miles north of Shell Point Sighting: Tar balls impacting marsh and bank located in Lake Borgne .5 miles south of Seven Lagoons Sighting: Sheen with tar balls located in Rigolets Pass .75 miles south of Weems Island. Plaquemines Parish: Sighting: Oil sheen located two miles east of Stone Island Sighting: Oil impacting grass located 1.25 miles west of Curfew Point Sighting: Tar balls located 1.25 miles west of Curfew Point Sighting: Sheen located two miles northeast of Sunrise Point Sighting: Black oil located four miles north of Bird Island Sighting: Tar balls 4.5 miles northeast of Breton Island Sighting: Sheen located two miles northeast of Tessiers Bend Sighting: Oil several miles long with 15 yard wide streamers located by Pass A Loutre wildlife Management Area in the South Pass Sighting: Heavy oil streamers with dark patches and sheen five miles long by miles wide located in the East Bay east of outlet E1 of the Southwest Pass Sighting: Oil located just off shore 1.4 miles south of Cockler Bay Sighting: Oil entering the South Pass Sighting: Oil located just south of Port Eads Sanitary Canal Sighting: Tar balls located east northeast of Garden Island Bay Sighting: Oil sheen with spots of oil located in marsh south of Wright Pass Sighting: Reddish oil with silver sheen near Johnson Pass Sighting: Patch of oil 50 feet by 600 feet in size located in Bayou Ronquille Sighting: Oil sheen with tar balls miles east of the Northeast Pass Sighting: Emulsified oil with sheen located 4 miles east of North Pass Sighting: Oil located on the east side of North Pass near the old lighthouse Sighting: Oil with streamers 45 feet wide near the Pass a Loutre Wildlife Management are Pilot Bay.
