Coastal Parish Transition Plans Submitted to Coast Guard
BATON ROUGE (August 4, 2010) - Coastal parish leaders and state officials submitted a transition response plan to the Coast Guard yesterday evening. The plans were submitted following a meeting last Thursday with Governor Bobby Jindal, coastal parish presidents, Retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, Admiral Paul Zukunft and BP COO Doug Suttles to discuss oil spill response efforts going forward.
Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Chairman Garret Graves said, "State and coastal parish officials worked through the weekend to develop a transition plan that reflects the latest conditions on the ground and provides for our parish leaders to be part of all decisions that impact our coast. These parish presidents know first-hand how their coastlines have been impacted and the type of resources needed to continue to fight the millions of gallons of oil that remain in the Gulf. We look forward to working with BP and the Coast Guard to implement these responsible plans."
