Report on Oil Sightings throughout Coastal Louisiana
BATON ROUGE (August 10, 2010) - The below is a situational awareness report of oil impacted areas led by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Louisiana Army National Guard and local governments.
Note: The information in this report has been forwarded to the federal incident command post in Houma, which is composed of U.S. Coast Guard and BP officials. This report consists of newly impacted areas, and does not serve as a comprehensive listing of impacted areas.
Sightings Report August 10, 2010
Plaquemines:
- Sighting: Oil sheen located in Bay Ronquille 2.60 miles SE of Grand Island Point.
- Sighting: Oil sheen with tar balls located in northern Barataria Bay 1.50 miles SSE of Saint Marys Point.
Jefferson:
- Sighting: Oil located in northern Barataria Bay 1.74 miles SSW of Saint Marys Point.
- Sighting: Oil located offshore .83 miles SE Isle Grand Terre near Barataria Pass.
- Sighting: Oil sheen with tar balls located 249 yards N of Isle Grand Terre near Pass Abel.
- Sighting: Oil sheen located in Barataria Pass .18 miles W of the Fort Livingston Ruins.
- Sighting: Oil sheen with tar balls located in Barataria Pass .44 miles SW of the Fort Livingston Ruins.
- Sighting: Oil sheen located in Barataria Pass .85 miles SE of Beauregard Island.
- Sighting: Oil streamer located offshore 3.89 miles S of Grand Isle.
