Plaquemines Parish Declares Curfew, Mandatory Evacuation
BELLE CHASSE, La. (August 30, 2008) – Plaquemines Parish officials have declared a curfew in that parish tonight. It will go into effect at 10:00 p.m. Saturday and end at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Plaquemines Parish officials say no one may enter the parish after 6:00 p.m. Sunday. At that point, roadblocks will be in place and the parish will be under lockdown.

Parish officials have made it clear that the curfew and evacuation are zero tolerance policies. Anyone who violates this curfew will be subject to arrest and will be brought to Angola State Prison.

There are no shelters in place in Plaquemines Parish.
