PRESS RELEASE

Large Sandbags Block LA 1 at the Leon-Theriot Floodgate in Golden Meadow
GOLDEN MEADOW, La. (August 31, 2008) – Large sandbags have been placed on LA 1 at the peak of the LeonTheriot Floodgate in Golden Meadow, LA. The Lafourche Levee District has placed these large sandbags in an attempt to raise the roadway to the actual levee height.

There is a small passageway for passenger vehicles to pass through the makeshift levee at the top of the floodgate. Large vehicles, such as tractor-trailers can not pass through this passageway. Please be aware that LA 1 is a curved road at this point and the sandbags are difficult to see if motorists drive too fast or not paying attention. Be sure to drive with caution at all times.
