Department of Agriculture and Forestry Processes Requests for Nearly 1 Million Gallons of Fuel
BATON ROUGE (September 3, 2008) - The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) has processed requests for nearly one million gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel, in addition to 140,000 pounds of aviation fuel to emergency personnel in the response to Hurricane Gustav.

"Fuel delivery to first responders is one of our responsibilities," said LDAF Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M. "Three of our distribution stations are capable of delivering 300,000 gallons of fuel before being resupplied."
LDAF also set up five distribution stations with 5,000 gallon capacities for use by evacuation buses, Strain added.

Total fuel usage by all emergency agencies as of 5 p.m., September 2, was as follows: 447,958 gallons gas; 410,798 gallons diesel and 140,000 lbs AV gas.
