Cease and Desist Order
BATON ROUGE, La. (September 7, 2008) - As a result of the current emergency and the effect that this emergency is having on local fire departments to effectively respond to fires, the State Fire Marshal ordered a cease and desist of all private burning in the parishes affected by Hurricane Gustav pursuant to his authority under r.s. 40:15663. Private burning shall only be permitted by permission of the local fire department or local government.
