Pointe Coupee Updates
POINTE COUPEE (September 7, 2008) - Sheriff Beauregard “Bud” Torres, III, Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff announces the following:
- Curfew remains in place from 10:00 p.m. through 5:30 a.m. The curfew is in effect for the safety of all and the protection of property. Once power is restored to the majority of the parish, the curfew will be lifted by the Sheriff.
- PCSO has been advised that FEMA will be setting up a Disaster Recovery Center at the Civic Center in New Roads possibly as early as Monday afternoon. Call FEMA @ 1-800-621-3362 for information regarding disaster relief funding and temporary housing.
- Beginning Monday, tarps, water, ice, and MRE’s will be distributed at 3 locations in the Parish: Innis Fire Station, Livonia High School and Fire Training Center on Parent Street in New Roads.
- Debris should be placed by the road and will be picked up by the Parish or one of their contractors. DEBRIS SHOULD BE SEGREGATED: LIMBS IN ONE PILE AND ALL OTHER DEBRIS IN ANOTHER PILE.
- False River is closed until further notice.
- No burning of trash is allowed in Pointe Coupee Parish.
- Contact your utility company to report a tree on a utility wire.
Contact the Police Jury @ 638-9556 if tree is on your house or in danger of falling on a
house; they MAY be able to assist in the removal of the tree.
