PRESS RELEASE Additional Community and Technical Colleges Announce Closures Due to Hurricane Ike All other community and technical colleges not listed below are scheduled to be open and continue classes and business operations as usual on Friday, Sept. 12. Delgado Community College and Louisiana Technical College, Region 1 Due to advisories regarding possible severe weather conditions for the area, classes have been cancelled and business operations are suspended at all Delgado Community College locations, including all campuses, learning centers and sites, for Friday, Sept. 12. All Louisiana Technical College (LTC) Region 1 campuses and centers are closed -- with no classes or business operations -- today. Delgado's and LTC Region 1's leadership is actively following weather advisories for the area and will communicate further notifications about classes and business operations per ongoing assessment. The colleges will make information regarding additional closures or reopenings available via the website at www.dcc.edu, the Emergency Communication Website at www.dcc911.com, and the Delgado switchboard at (504) 671-5000. Students, faculty and staff should monitor the websites, local news broadcasts and college email accounts for updated notifications. River Parishes Community College River Parishes Community College (Sorrento) has announced the cancellation of classes and business operations at the college due to Hurricane Ike on Friday, Sept. 12. Students, faculty and staff should monitor the college's website, local media, and RPCC email accounts for updated notifications. RPCC will resume classes on Monday, September 15 if weather permits. South Louisiana Community College South Louisiana Community College (Lafayette) has announced that classes have been cancelled and business operations will be suspended at all South Louisiana Community College campuses and sites due to Hurricane Ike on Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday Sept 13. Students, faculty and staff should monitor the colleges' website, local news broadcasts and SLCC email accounts for updated notifications. Additionally, updated information can be accessed by calling the SLCC emergency phone line at (337) 521-8926. SLCC will resume all normal operations on Monday, September 15. SOWELA Technical Community College SOWELA Technical Community College (Lake Charles) continues to monitor Hurricane Ike and has implemented campus hurricane preparation plans. The campus will be closing at noon Thursday, Sept. 11 and will remain closed through Friday, Sept.12. Plans to reopen the campus will be made after the storm has made landfall and more information is available. If the Lake Charles area is not directly affected by the storm, the campus will reopen Monday, September 15, for normal business operations and classes will resume as scheduled. All faculty, staff and students should monitor the SOWELA website for important campus updates and information. Louisiana Technical College, Region 3 The LTC Young Memorial campus (Morgan City) and LTC Young Memorial Franklin Branch campus (Franklin) will be closed on Friday, Sept. 12. Louisiana Technical College, Region 4 The Gulf Area campus (Abbeville) will close at noon Thursday, Sept. 11 and will remain closed through Friday, Sept. 12. The LTC Lafayette Campus, LTC Evangeline Campus (Abbeville), LTC Morgan Smith campus (Jennings), LTC Acadian Campus (Crowley), LTC T.H. Harris Campus (Opelousas) and LTC Teche Area campus (New Iberia) will be closed Friday, Sept. 12. Louisiana Technical College, Region 6 The LTC Oakdale campus (Oakdale) and LTC Lamar Salter campus (Leesville) will be closed Friday, Sept. 12. The campuses will reopen on Monday, Sept. 15 if weather permits. Louisiana Technical College, Region 9 The LTC Ascension campus (Sorrento) will be closed Friday, Sept. 12.
