PRESS RELEASE Calcasieu Update For those residents who have evacuated, you may return to Calcasieu Parish. If you choose to do so today or this evening, please be aware that some sections of major roadways are currently flooded and closed to traffic. Please also be aware that community services are very limited at this time. You should be able to support yourself for the next 3-5 days. Although the curfew is currently in place, law enforcement authorities will allow residents to check on their loved ones, or take care of personal property as needed. However, if you are out on roadways for non-essential purposes, you will be given a citation for violating the curfew. The curfew will be more strictly enforced during the evening hours. Foot traffic is strictly forbidden at night, and residents will be arrested. Residents who would like to attend religious services may do so. Local officials also encourage businesses that are able to open at this point, to do so. All boat traffic is closed in Calcasieu Parish. A temporary shelter is available at F.K. White Middle School at 1000 West McNeese Street in Lake Charles. Evacuees going to the temporary shelter should bring medicine, bedding and any other personal items they may need.
