Martin Luther King Center Shelter in Calcasieu Parish Closes, New Shelter Opens

LAKE CHARLES, La. (September 16, 2008) - The shelter at the Martin Luther King Center at 2009 North Simmons in Lake Charles has been closed by officials of the parish and the American Red Cross.  A new shelter has opened at First Baptist Church in Westlake at 501 Sulphur Avenue.

Evacuees going to the temporary shelter should bring medicine, bedding and any other personal items they may need.
