Estimated Homes Flooded During Ike
Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness News Update
BATON ROUGE, La. (September 17, 2008) - So far, parish officials are reporting to the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) approximately 24,774 homes flooded as the result of Hurricane Ike. While these are estimated and preliminary numbers, here is the breakdown:

  • Jefferson        2,500
  • Lafourche       24
  • St. John          100
  • Terrebone       15,000
  • Calcasieu        1,500
  • Cameron         3,000
  • Iberia               1,000
  • St. Mary          450
  • Vermilion        1,000
  • St. Tammany   200
  • Tangipahoa      60
  • St. Bernard       22

Tangipahoa Parish also reports four (4) businesses and one (1) fire station flooded during Hurricane Ike.

Damage assessments are ongoing at the local, state and federal levels.
